This course is for English Language Teachers to learn the skills required to enliven and engage students through the use of storytelling and story teaching. You will see how storytelling can be used to develop the spoken and written word. The stories we will use hold the structure of the language, the rhythm, the musicality, the meaning and the 'heart' of the language.
As educators, you will develop your own storytelling skills, giving you the confidence to begin finding and telling appropriate stories for and to the students in your class. This will allow your students to develop their own creativity in using English, they will develop critical skills and self -expression. Through stories we give them the tools to become independent and active learners.
This 5 day interactive course is suitable for English language teachers of all nationalities, abilities and level of experience. The story skills learned are effective with both children and adults. We invite you to come with us on a journey to live, learn and love the English language through the use of stories. The course will include a one day storytelling tour of Florence and an optional Italian cookery class one evening.
The course is held by Centro Culturale Academy Olmo (www.academyolmo.com) in co-operation with the School of Storytelling (www.schoolofstorytelling.com) in England, and hotel Al Vecchio Convento www.vecchioconvento.it in the picturesque medieval village, Portico di Romagna in the midst of the green Tuscan-Romagnole mountains, 75km from Florence and 70km from Ravenna.
